Makumira Secondary School is a boarding school for Form One to Form Six, both girls and boys. The school is situated on the slopes of Mount Meru close to Usa River. The road to the school branched off the Arusha – Moshi highway just east of Makumira University

Makumira Secondary School was opened in 1973 for “O” level and expanded to “A” level in 1976. Its registration number is S.131 and is recognized by the National Examination as number S.0329 as well as P.0329 for private candidates. The school is managed by the Meru Diocese under the Lutheran Church. However, we accept students from all religious denominations.

Students coming to Form One must have completed 7 years of primary school. Form 5 students must have qualifications required by the National Examinations Councils. Students coming to other classes need appropriate transfer certificates.
